Zannino Engineering project Hampton Inn hotel Short Pump

Engineering RVA Short Pump Hampton Inn Hotel

Richmond’s Short Pump area continues to grow. A new Hampton Inn hotel approved by the Henrico County Planning Commission back in 2016 is under construction at Short Pump. The property is being developed on 3.7 acres adjacent to the GreenGate development near North Gayton Road. The Hampton Inn hotel under construction is a 122-room Hampton Inn & Suites. Those familiar with the area have likely shopped at the nearby Cabela’s and Wegmans.

Zannino Engineering project Hampton Inn Short Pump concrete testing services

Development of the six story hotel required rezoning the property to business and a special exception to the county’s 45-foot height restriction. Shamin Hotels based in Chester, Virginia is the operator for the new hotel. Shamin Hotels owns and operates over 60 hotels across 6 states according to their LinkedIn profile. And, Zannino Engineering has been retained to provide engineering and testing services to demystify the ground below and help them build above.

The new Hampton Inn hotel requires test borings and a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment conducted by Zannino Engineering. Subsequently, Zannino Engineering is providing soil, concrete, masonry, steel shear walls and MSE wall testing for this construction project west of downtown Richmond, Virginia (RVA).
