Once foundations are complete and steel erection begins, the focus shifts to confirming that structural elements are installed exactly as designed. At this stage inspectors verify that columns are aligned, connections are secure, and welds are sound before loads are transferred through the structure.
What Inspectors Check in the Field
Our team observes structural steel installation in the field, checking critical components such as anchor bolts that tie the steel to the foundation, column alignment that ensures vertical stability, and bolted or welded connections that allow the frame to act as a unified system. We also review metal decking and shear studs, which help floors and beams work together to support weight and resist movement.
Fabrication and Pre-Installation Review
We also perform fabrication inspections at steel plants to verify that required quality control programs are in place and that materials are properly identified and marked before they arrive on site. Catching issues early helps prevent problems during erection.
Welding and Non-Destructive Testing
For critical connections, our inspectors provide AWS-certified welding inspections and observe ultrasonic testing when required. These evaluations help confirm that welded joints meet design intent, even when the steel cannot be seen.
Supporting Construction in Real Time
When questions arise during construction, we assist with Requests for Information (RFIs) and document conditions for prompt review, helping resolve issues efficiently and minimizes delays.
