Staff Geotechnical Engineer, E.I.T.

Zannino Engineering, Inc. has an immediate opening for someone who wants to make an impact on the quality of development and construction. Our seasoned in-house professional engineers and other staff will provide the successful candidate hands-on training supplemented by continuing education seminars from nationally accredited agencies like ASCE, NSPE and professional trades. Our goal is to prepare the candidate to obtain professional registration and become an active project engineer. Upon demonstration of proficiency, the engineer will then begin to manage the residential soil study part of the business including proposal preparation, request utility marking, soil laboratory test requests and preparation of reports including graphics and drawings for review by a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. Follow-on training may include Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments, foundation design for Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB), retaining wall design and excavation sheeting and shoring design.

Requirements of the position include accurate documentation of field activities, detailed review of project plans and specifications and exact implementation of ASTM testing methods. The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (E.I.T.) examination and an educational background in engineering with soil mechanics and materials science is desired. Competence with Microsoft 365, Google Suite applications (Gmail, Google Sheets, etc.) and AutoCAD Lt is a plus.

Hands on training will be provided for all assignments with the following expectations.

1. Gathering field & lab data for residential and commercial soil studies – 2 weeks
2. Preparing documentation for inclusion into soil reports – 2 weeks
3. Performing analysis and preparing reports for P.E. review – 30 days
4. Performing residential footing/foundation inspections – 5 days
5. Using design software for reinforced earth walls, footing design, and minor structural engineering
   design – 30 days
6. Preparing commercial geotechnical reports for P.E. review – 90 days
