Our seasoned in-house professional engineers and other staff will provide the successful candidate hands-on training supplemented by continuing education seminars from nationally accredited agencies like ASCE, NSPE and professional trades. Our goal is to prepare the candidate to have the qualifications and skills to assist the engineering staff with execution of engineering field tasks such as Hand Auger borings for both residential and commercial projects, monitoring test borings using a drill rig, providing accurate and detailed site descriptions, and conducting residential footing and foundation inspections. Upon demonstration of proficiency, the engineering aide will be assigned project field tasks and assist the engineering staff with report preparation. The engineering aide may also be cross-trained in soil and concrete laboratory testing as well as other construction testing methods.

Requirements of the position include accurate documentation of field activities, detailed review of project plans and specifications and exact implementation of ASTM testing methods. Prior experience as a construction technician is highly desirable. A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology and certifications such as ACI Level 1 concrete field technician, nuclear density gauge; and NICET soils and concrete qualifications are desired. Competence with Microsoft 365, Google Suite applications (Gmail, Google Sheets, etc.) and AutoCAD Lt is a plus.

Hands on training will be provided for all assignments with the following expectations.

  1. Gathering field & lab data for residential and commercial soil studies – 2 weeks
  2. Preparing documentation for inclusion into soil reports – 2 weeks
  3. Performing analysis and preparing reports for P.E. review – 30 days
  4. Performing residential footing/foundation inspections – 5 days
  5. Preparing commercial geotechnical reports for P.E. review – 90 days
